Educational Advocacy
Navigating school support services can feel overwhelming. Kaizen Educational Group provides advocacy support to families before, during, and after school-based meetings to better understand Evaluation Team Report (ETR), Individualized Education Program (IEP), and Section 504 processes. Our team attends ETR, IEP, and Section 504 meetings with families to help explain evaluation results, eligibility decisions, service options, accommodations, and next steps. We support families in asking meaningful questions, identifying areas of concern, communicating these concerns effectively, and ensuring that their child's strengths, needs, and goals remain at the center of every conversation.
As part of our advocacy services, Kaizen reviews educational records and school documents, including ETRs, IEPs, Section 504 plans, progress monitoring data, prior written notices, behavior plans, and other relevant school records. This review helps families better understand whether the documentation accurately reflects their child’s strengths, needs, and educational impact. We help families interpret school-based recommendations, identify areas where additional clarification may be needed, and prepare for productive conversations with district teams.
Kaizen’s advocacy approach is collaborative, student-centered, and grounded in special education law, including IDEA and Section 504. We work respectfully with school districts to support data driven decision making and appropriate educational planning while helping families understand their rights, procedural safeguards, and available options. Our goal is to strengthen communication between families and schools so that students receive meaningful support, appropriate services, and access to the educational programming they need to make progress.
Pricing for advocacy support is based on an individualized service plan developed in collaboration with each family. Kaizen works with families to identify specific concerns, priorities, and goals that will guide the advocacy process. The individualized service levels outline the desired outcome, and the action steps needed to support progress toward that goal. The plan is designed to give families a clear understanding of what support will be provided and how each step connects to the overall advocacy goal. As part of the planning process, families receive an estimate of the expected hours associated with the recommended support. The number of hours may vary depending on the complexity of the student’s needs, the amount of documentation to be reviewed, the number of meetings involved, and the level of collaboration needed with the school district. This estimate helps families make informed decisions before services begin. Advocacy services are billed at a consistent hourly rate, allowing families to understand costs clearly and plan accordingly.
