ADHD Evaluations
Understanding Attention, Executive Functioning, and Self-Regulation
At Kaizen Educational Group, we provide comprehensive Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) evaluations designed to help families better understand how attention, executive functioning, self-regulation, and learning impact a child's daily functioning. Many children who struggle with focus, organization, impulsivity, or task completion possess significant strengths that can be overlooked when these challenges interfere with success at home, school, or in the community.
Our evaluations go beyond checklists and symptom ratings. We take a comprehensive approach that examines how a child thinks, learns, processes information, regulates emotions, and manages daily demands. By gathering information from multiple sources, we work to identify each child's unique strengths, understand areas of difficulty, and provide meaningful recommendations that support success across environments.
Whether you are seeking diagnostic clarification, support for school accommodations, or simply a better understanding of your child's needs, our team is committed to providing answers that lead to a clear and actionable plan.

Who May Benefit from an ADHD Evaluation?
An ADHD evaluation may be beneficial for children or adolescents who experience:
Difficulty sustaining attention during academic or everyday tasks
Frequent distractibility or daydreaming
Challenges completing work independently
Forgetfulness and poor organization
Trouble following multi-step directions
Difficulty managing time or prioritizing tasks
Impulsivity or acting before thinking
Excessive fidgeting or restlessness
Emotional overreactions or low frustration tolerance
Inconsistent academic performance despite strong abilities
Difficulty starting, planning, or completing assignments
Problems keeping track of materials and personal belongings
While these challenges may be associated with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), they may also be related to learning differences, anxiety, executive functioning weaknesses, emotional concerns, sensory processing challenges, or other developmental factors. Comprehensive assessment helps identify the factors contributing to a child's difficulties.
What We Assess
Our evaluations examine multiple areas that may impact functioning and performance.
Attention and Concentration
We assess a child's ability to focus, sustain attention over time, shift attention appropriately, and resist distractions in structured and unstructured settings.
Executive Functioning
Executive functioning skills are the brain's management system. We evaluate skills such as:
Organization
Planning
Task initiation
Working memory
Inhibitory control
Cognitive flexibility
Self-monitoring
Learning and Academic Skills
Because academic challenges sometimes resemble ADHD symptoms, we examine learning processes and academic performance when appropriate to better understand the child's overall profile.
Cognitive Functioning
We assess how a child processes information, reasons, solves problems, and utilizes strengths to support learning and daily functioning.
Social-Emotional and Behavioral Functioning
Attention and executive functioning challenges often affect emotional regulation, confidence, relationships, and behavior. Our evaluation considers how these areas interact to influence success at home, school, and within peer relationships.
Sensory Processing and Self-Regulation
For some children, difficulties with attention, focus, organization, emotional regulation, or behavior may be influenced by underlying sensory processing differences. Children who are overwhelmed by noise, visual input, movement, clothing textures, or other sensory experiences may appear distracted, impulsive, restless, emotionally reactive, or inattentive.
Our evaluations consider whether sensory processing challenges may be contributing to a child's difficulties and, when appropriate, include collaboration with our occupational therapy team to provide a comprehensive understanding of regulation, participation, and daily functioning.
What Families Receive
Following completion of the evaluation, families receive:
A Comprehensive Written Report
The report provides a clear explanation of assessment findings, identifies strengths and areas of need, and integrates information from multiple sources into a meaningful understanding of the child's profile.
Diagnostic Clarification
When appropriate, the evaluation assists in determining whether a child meets criteria for ADHD or whether other factors may be contributing to concerns.
Individualized Recommendations
Recommendations are designed to be practical, actionable, and tailored to the unique needs of the child. Suggestions may address:
Home supports
Classroom accommodations
Executive functioning interventions
Behavioral strategies
Counseling supports
Academic interventions
School-based planning
Guidance for Educational Planning
Recommendations may help support discussions regarding classroom accommodations, intervention planning, 504 plans, or special education services when appropriate.
